Experts from the chemical industry, contract research organisations and regulatory authorities, together with the NC3Rs, have published a review paper in Critical Reviews in Toxicology highlighting opportunities to waive requirements for acute toxicity testing of chemicals or use alternative approaches. The review focuses on acute oral, dermal and inhalation toxicity, skin and eye irritation and skin sensitisation, and is intended to provide a focused review for the regulatory community to use when considering the need to generate acute toxicity data. This leaflet highlights the key points in the paper, and has been produced to help disseminate the findings. Hard copies can be requested by emailing the NC3Rs office at enquiries@nc3rs.org.uk or phoning on 020 7670 5331.
