NC3Rs/BBSRC workshop: Animal welfare measures and assessment

Event description:

The NC3Rs and BBSRC held a joint workshop on animal welfare measures and assessment on 6 June 2011. The aim of the workshop was to spark new ideas and collaborations and to foster high quality research applications to a subsequent time-limited priority highlight notice.

The workshop was chaired by Professor Jane Hurst, University of Liverpool. Speakers included:

• Professor Mike Mendl, University of Bristol
• Professor Paul Flecknell, Newcastle University
• Professor Alistair Lawrence, Scottish Agricultural College 
• Professor Hannah Buchanan-Smith, University of Stirling
• Professor Laura Green, University of Warwick 
• Dr Colin Dunn, Charles River Laboratories

There were also break-out groups on what makes a strong research proposal to the NC3Rs and BBSRC. A meeting report is available.
