Following on from the 2011 NC3Rs Maths in Medicine Study
Group workshop on maths and toxicology, in March 2012 the NC3Rs
will be holding a call for proposals on research on
mathematical modelling in toxicology. To launch the call and
provide an opportunity for communication and networking between
the mathematics and toxicology communities, a workshop will be
held on 2 March 2012 in central London.
Research call
Proposals for research must focus on the application of
mathematical modelling to support replacement, reduction or
refinement of the use of animals in toxicological research or
testing.
Proposals can be in any area of toxicology, but applications
must come from collaborations of mathematicians and
toxicologists. Proposals with industry involvement are
particularly encouraged.
Application forms for research calls will be available from
5 March 2012 and the closing date for proposals will
be 10 May 2012.
Workshop
The aims of the workshop are to provide an opportunity for
mathematicians to learn more about the challenges faced by
toxicologists, to identify where mathematical approaches may be
able to address these issues, and to enable participants to
meet potential collaborators.
Researchers who may be interested in applying for the
research call are strongly recommended to attend this
event.
Registration
The meeting is free to attend and open to scientists working
in the fields of mathematics and toxicology at academic or
industry organisations.
To register please fill in the registration form
below and return to enquiries@nc3rs.org.uk.
The closing date for registration is Friday 17 February
2012.
