The NC3Rs is working with the BBSRC to increase investment and awareness in tissue engineering as a means of replacing animal models.
Following on from the successful funding priority call in tissue engineering, the NC3Rs and BBSRC hosted a 1-day meeting on 30 April 2008 to highlight the potential of tissue engineering as a scientifically robust means to replace animals.
An exciting programme (PDF, 93KB) of speakers from academia, industry and the regulatory authorities, was put together by the NC3Rs working closely with Professor Kevin Shakesheff (Nottingham University) and Professor Robert Brown (University College, London). The abstract booklet is now available.
The focus of the meeting was to facilitate multi-disciplinary communication and collaboration between researchers in the tissue engineering field and in vivo researchers interested in adopting tissue engineering approaches in their research.
