The NC3Rs is working with the BBSRC to increase investment
and awareness in tissue engineering as a means of replacing
animal models.
Following on from the success of the first meeting in this
collaboration, the NC3Rs and BBSRC hosted
a 1.5 day symposium on 1-2 April 2009 to
highlight the potential of tissue engineering as a
scientifically robust means to replace animals in basic
research and safety testing.
Working closely with experts from the field, the
NC3Rs organised an exciting programme (PDF, 92KB) of oral and poster
presentations from academia and industry. The abstract booklet is now available.
The focus of the meeting was to facilitate
multi-disciplinary communication and collaboration between
researchers, from academia and industry, in the tissue
engineering field and in vivo researchers who are interested in
adopting tissue engineering approaches in their research.
Prior to the meeting, the NC3Rs also hosted a speed-networking event.
