Job opportunities available at the NC3Rs

The NC3Rs is currently seeking to appoint three new members of staff

The NC3Rs is a scientific organisation funded by Government, industry and the charitable sector to work with scientists to develop new models and tools with reduced reliance on animals and/or improved animal welfare (the 3Rs). The Centre is the UK's largest funder of 3Rs research. It also has an extensive programme of activities with the academic sector including research funding bodies, and with the pharmaceutical, chemical and consumer product industries. Programme Manager - Innovation and Translation IRC19637

Salary £40k per annum (plus benefits)

A Programme Manager is required to lead a new initiative called CRACK-IT® which the NC3Rs is launching in 2011. The aim of CRACK-IT® is to foster collaborations between industry and academia in order to develop and disseminate innovative tools and methods which will address global industry challenges, derive 3Rs benefits, and improve competitiveness and efficiency. CRACK-IT® will take the form of two interrelated activities: a web-based resource to stimulate open innovation and collaboration and a 'Dragons' Den' style research competition. A PhD in a biological science plus experience of the pharmaceutical, chemical or consumer product industries, preferably at the academia/industry interface, are essential.

Communications and Media Manager IRC19640

Salary £40k per annum (plus benefits)

A Communications and Media Manager is required to refresh and implement the Centre's communication strategy, to raise the profile of the NC3Rs and its work among its scientific stakeholders, and to develop a programme of public engagement on the 3Rs. Proven experience of science communication, including on complex and controversial issues, for both scientific and public audiences is essential.

Web Manager IRC19641

Salary £30k per annum (plus benefits)

The NC3Rs website is an internationally leading 3Rs resource providing contemporary and comprehensive information to approximately 11,000 visitors per month. A Web Manager is required to lead the development and management of the Centre's website and other online resources. Extensive experience of using website content management systems, web design and project management is essential.
