Information for existing grant holders

Interim progress reports

A brief progress report is required from all NC3Rs grant holders.

When? On request, once or more during the lifetime of the grant.

How? By downloading and completing the interim report form (DOC, 181KB) and emailing the completed version to 3Rsgrants@nc3rs.org.uk

Any queries should be addressed to 3Rsgrants@nc3rs.org.uk

Publications

Holders of NC3Rs research grants are expected to disseminate their results by publishing in appropriate scientific journals, detailing the 3Rs impact of the work. NC3Rs support for an individual or research project must be acknowledged on all publications where such support has been significant (i.e. accounts for at least 20% of funding). The NC3Rs should be informed of any publications or other promotional material or events arising from the grant.

Extensions to NC3Rs grants

The NC3Rs is committed to sustaining funding in areas of importance to the 3Rs, and welcomes further applications from existing grant holders, however, our grants are not renewable and will not normally be extended.

Applications for continued funding from existing grant holders will be treated as new proposals and will be considered in competition with all other submissions to the annual funding scheme.

After a research grant has started, the duration may be extended as indicated in the table below, subject to prior written approval from the NC3Rs office. Time-only extensions may cover breaks or delays in the appointment of staff, periods of maternity/paternity leave or paid sick leave exceeding 3 months for staff funded by the grant, or other exceptional circumstances as agreed with the NC3Rs.

Requests for extensions should be made as soon as the requirement is identified and confirmed when the period required is known. All requests for extensions must be made before the grant ends. All requests should include relevant dates i.e. maternity leave, sick leave, gaps in employment, employee leave and start dates of new staff.
