New Solution: Continuous glucose telemetry to enhance research and improve animal welfare

20 August 2015

Blood glucose monitoring is an important part of diabetes research and studies into other metabolic diseases. It usually involves tests such as the glucose tolerance test which needs to be repeated up to 4 times a day throughout the length of the study, causing significant stress to the animals due to repeated handling and blood draws.

DSI’s new implantable telemetry device could change the way these measurements are carried out and enable new scientific evaluations that simply aren’t feasible using current technologies. With these devices, scientists can continually monitor glucose levels to obtain a complete blood glucose profile, with movement and temperature data, in freely moving animals and will be able to observe the development of diabetes and other metabolic disorders over time.

The Solution provider is now seeking partners to work with them to determine how their technology can be applied in new and exciting ways. To learn more about the device, or to contact DSI about their Solution, please visit the CRACK IT Solutions website.
