Over £4 million funding available for collaborative research through CRACK IT

20 September 2011

The NC3Rs launches its new open innovation programme, CRACK IT, on September 20 with an initial £4.25 million of funding.  CRACK IT connects universities and industry to accelerate the translation of research into practice. The initial six CRACK IT Challenges have been posed by industry and the NC3Rs will fund collaborative research to solve them. Solving the multi-disciplinary Challenges will result in improved animal welfare and reduce the numbers of animals used in research.  In addition to the NC3Rs funding, the industrial sponsors of the Challenges will provide in-kind support. Research groups and consortia from universities or SMEs are encouraged to apply through the Technology Strategy Board’s Small Business Research Initiative.  Sign up to crack the Challenges by the October 26 deadline.
