NC3Rs Cardiovascular Showcase event

  • NC3Rs
Friday 23 March 2018 10:30 to 18:00
Central London

This event will highlight the wide range of NC3Rs projects within cardiovascular science and will bring together a diverse group of scientists working to advance the application of the 3Rs in cardiovascular research and safety assessment. This will include NC3Rs-funded researchers and industry experts participating in NC3Rs-led working groups to stimulate changes in policy and practice.

The aims of the workshop are to:

  • Showcase the wide range of cardiovascular projects for basic research, as well as drug efficacy and safety studies supported by the NC3Rs;
  • Bring together scientists who have contributed to the success of this work;
  • Highlight our funding opportunities and encourage future applications to the NC3Rs-British Heart Foundation (BHF) PhD studentship scheme; and
  • Engage the wider cardiovascular research community in two cardiac safety projects to help inform future progression.

During the afternoon there will be the opportunity to participate in one of three breakout sessions:

  1. Funding workshop: NC3Rs-BHF co-funded PhD studentships: To bring together experts in the field of cardiovascular research, researchers using animal and non-animal approaches and other stakeholders who are interested in applying to the NC3Rs PhD Studentship scheme.
  2. Development of an adverse outcome pathway (AOP) for cardiotoxicity: To share and discuss the outcomes from work performed as part of a recent NC3Rs strategic award.
  3. Increasing the adoption of social-housing during telemetry study recordings: To share and discuss experiences and information to encourage wider adoption of this refinement across species.

Please indicate during the registration process which breakout group you would like to participate in.

Attendance is free, but registration is essential. The closing date for registration is 08 March 2018

You will need an NC3Rs website account to register. Please use your institutional email address when registering.
