NC3Rs staff member elected to HESI Board of Trustees

Head of technology development, Dr Anthony Holmes has recently been appointed to the Board of Trustees of the international Health and Environmental Sciences Institute (HESI), based in Washington, USA.

HESI, a branch of the International Life Sciences Institute, engages with scientists from academia, government, industry, NGOs, and other strategic partners to collaboratively identify and resolve global health and environment challenges. These include scientific programmes exploring opportunities in intelligent non-animal alternative methods for safety assessmentanimal alternatives in environmental risk assessmentsdevelopmental and reproductive toxicology and cardiac safety.

The Institute provides an objective forum for initiating dialogue among scientists with different perspectives and expertise. Anthony’s expertise in both the 3Rs and technology development within the biosciences will add value to the capability of the current Board, helping to inform international policy and foster opportunities for improved global harmonisation of regulatory 3Rs practice.
