Rodent welfare related CRACK IT projects

We fund the commercialisation of 3Rs technologies through our CRACK IT programme. Examples from our challenge-led innovation competition (CRACK IT Challenges) and collaborations through our technology partnering hub (CRACK IT Solutions) related to rodent welfare are described below.

A miniature wireless EEG system for continuous electrophyisology monitoring in mice.
An automated home cage analysis system with a focus on safety pharmacology endpoints in rats.
An automated, minimally-invasive home cage analysis of mouse activity, behaviour and interaction.
Developing automated apparatus to allow multiple trials by a single rat to be run in a single session with no handling.
Automated longitudinal monitoring of home-cage behaviours to assess rodent welfare and functional recovery in models of spinal injury and pain.
Improving the implantation rates of early stage embryos of genetically altered mice.
