Board Chair recruitment

Professor Stephen Holgate CBE, University of Southampton, will step down as Board Chair in December 2019.  We are seeking a successor to lead the NC3Rs Board for the next three years. This is an opportunity to help shape the strategy of the NC3Rs and promote the UK’s position as a world leader in 3Rs research and development.

The NC3Rs is a leading scientific organisation dedicated to replacing, refining and reducing the use of animals in research and testing (the 3Rs). • Funding research and supporting training and career development
  • Stimulating changes in policy, practice and regulations
  • Working collaboratively with academia and industry

We are a government-backed organisation with core funding provided via the Medical Research Council (MRC) and the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), which in turn are part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). We have an annual budget of around £10 million.

Candidates will bring leadership experience with a distinguished international research track record. A vision of the priorities and opportunities for the 3Rs across the biosciences is essential.
