Organised by the RSPCA, this meeting focuses on addressing and mitigating severe suffering in laboratory animals, with particular reference to cumulative severity. Topics covered include:

  • Refining chronic pain models.

  • Animal welfare assessment after traumatic brain injury.

  • Cognitive complexity in suffering.

  • Applying a roadmap to reduce suffering.

  • Assessing the impact of initiatives in this area.

This meeting is suitable for those directly involved in the care and use of laboratory animals. The event is free to attend and includes refreshments and lunch, thanks to support from RSPCA sponsors, the Netherlands National Committee for the Protection of Animals Used for Scientific Purposes and the University of Leiden.
