This course is designed to support life science researchers with basic experimental design knowledge to improve their understanding of statistical analysis methods, enable them to select the most appropriate method of statistical analysis for their experimental design and report results in a rigorous and reproducible way.

Through three interactive three-hour webinar sessions, attendees will learn to:

  • Identify sources of variation.
  • Understand how a scientific question maps to statistical questions.
  • Visualise their data.
  • Interpret summaries for location and dispersion.
  • Discuss data transformation methods.
  • Identify and deal with outliers.
  • Compare two groups of data and assess significance.
  • Identify and interpret ANOVA, ANCOVA and other statistical tests.
  • Link the results of statistical analysis to the study purpose.
